ABOUT

Tiana Reimann is a Papua New Guinea–raised photographer, cultural documentarian, and storyteller whose life has been shaped by the land, people, and traditions of West New Britain Province. Born in Australia and brought to PNG at just two months old, she has spent her entire life immersed in the country’s diverse cultures and tribes, forming deep relationships and being initiated into local clans. Her connection to PNG is not observational — it is lived, earned, and woven into her identity.

Tiana began photographing the natural world at age nine, developing an early fascination with macro insect life and underwater ecosystems. Over the past decade, she has built a professional career spanning nature photography, portraiture, weddings, events, and photojournalism across both Papua New Guinea and Australia. Her work has been featured in hotels, national publications including Paradise Magazine, and in her self‑published book The Walk in the Garden, which blends macrophotography with reflective storytelling. She was also a finalist in the portrait category of the 2017 Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year.

Her career in tourism opened doors into some of PNG’s most remote and rarely visited communities — places where few outsiders have ever set foot. These experiences deepened her commitment to using photography as a tool for cultural preservation and environmental awareness. Her current major project, a photobook on New Britain, documents the island’s extraordinary natural beauty while highlighting the environmental pressures facing its forests, reefs, and river systems.

Today, Tiana’s work focuses on recording people, places, and traditions that have never been formally documented. With lifelong ties to the region, a deep understanding of local customs, and trusted relationships built over decades, she is uniquely positioned to capture these stories with authenticity and respect. Her mission is to create a lasting visual record of cultures at risk of disappearing — ensuring that the knowledge, identity, and heritage of PNG’s communities endure for future generations.
